Eczema and Psoriasis are just two of the rashes that we manage at CCSD.

There are many different types of rashes that can appear on the body. “Dermatitis” is common and refers to a group of typically itchy, inflammatory skin conditions, some acute or chronic in nature. Some cases of dermatitis present at a certain age, involve certain body locations such as the scalp, hands, and legs, and may be due to internal and/or external factors that should be addressed. Most rashes are noninfectious, but they can be bacterial, fungal, or viral in nature prompting treatments that target the specific infectious cause. A detailed history and examination are most important and further testing may be recommended by your provider to make an accurate diagnosis. A cause is typically discovered, but in certain situations may not be identified. Regardless of the etiology, our providers at CCSD will help you find relief of your symptoms and do our best to improve the rash appearance. If your rash is new or you are unsure how to treat it, please make an appointment with our office today. If your rash tends to come and go, document your rash with your phone and show us at your upcoming visit and we may be able to help!

Combinations of medications and changes in cleansing or health habits are used to help clear your skin. Biologic medications such as Humira, Enbrel, and Stelara can also be used to clear psoriasis and treat psoriatic arthritis in our patients.

Per the National Eczema Association, there are 7 subtypes of eczema. The red, scaly, and itchy rash people tend to call “eczema,” is termed atopic dermatitis which tends to be associated with allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and asthma. Atopic Dermatitis tends to present in infancy with 85% of cases appearing in the first year of life. It tends to resolve in adolescence; however, it can persist and less commonly arise in adulthood. Genetic and predisposing environmental factors exist. Appropriate skin care and avoidance of triggers is crucial to minimizing flares of any of the subtypes of eczema. Common treatments include general measures with liberal emollient use, topicals steroids, topical calcineurin inhibitors, crisaborole ointment, JAK inhibitors, biologic agents, and phototherapy. Our dermatology providers will create a personalized prescription regimen depending on your eczema severity.

Dr. Ibrahim is AMAZING. He has such a wonderful ‘bed side manner’ and his experience is multifaceted. I go to him for both regular skin concerns and cosmetic reasons and he has been able to help with every issue I have! He is by far the best dermatologist I have been to and I recommend him 100%
